Polish ministers hail NATO summit above expectations as Europe assumes more defense responsibility
Defense Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz and Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski said all Polish goals were met, from fuel pipeline expansion to Patriot missile servicing, while praising the unity of the Polish delegation and NATO's reaffirmed commitment to collective defense.
Summit outcomes
Polish ministers returned from the two-day NATO summit in Ankara and declared results exceeded expectations. Kosiniak-Kamysz said all participants agreed that Europe would take more responsibility for conventional defense, supply chains, and arms production. Sikorski called the closed sessions a truly good allied conversation in a calmer atmosphere than some public statements suggest.

Polish unity
Sikorski stressed that the Polish delegation spoke with one voice, crediting President Karol Nawrocki for taking the government's position seriously. He noted that in the past there were divergences, but this time Poland's voice was prominent and audible. The E5 format (Germany, France, Italy, Poland, UK) was emphasized to prevent Western Europe from deciding for Eastern or Southern Europe.

Defense investments
Kosiniak-Kamysz enumerated concrete achievements: the expansion of fuel pipelines to the east, south, and Baltic states, and US investments including an Anduril deal to produce Barracuda-500M missiles and an agreement on Patriot PAC-3 missile servicing in Europe. Trump's announcement that Ukraine would receive a license to produce Patriot missiles was welcomed by Sikorski, who saw potential benefits for Poland.
This is good news on several levels, because the United States is reluctant to share its technologies, and if the effectors are to be produced in Europe, Poland can also benefit.
NATO unity reaffirmed
NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte declared that allies confirmed their unwavering commitment to collective defense under Article 5 and readiness to defend every inch of Alliance territory. The summit, despite earlier public tensions, concluded with a strong show of transatlantic solidarity.
