Munster and Leinster secure Women's Interprovincial final berths with decisive victories
Munster defeated Connacht 47-12 in Galway while Leinster beat Ulster 75-5 in Belfast on Saturday, setting up a fourth consecutive Women's Interprovincial Championship final between the two provinces.
Munster overcome early deficit in Galway
Munster earned a 47-12 bonus-point victory over Connacht at Dexcom Stadium to conclude the Vodafone Women's Interprovincial Championship regular season with an unbeaten record. The win extended their winning streak to seven matches under head coach Matt Brown. Connacht applied early forward pressure in their first match in front of the completed Clan Stand, scoring in the third minute when Ireland Under-18 hooker Uillin Eilian crashed over from a five-metre lineout taken by Poppy Garvey. Munster responded in the sixth minute when winger Alana McInerney intercepted a pass from Lyndsay Clarke to run in from 30 metres. Carries from 19-year-old Sally Kelly and Alisha Flynn set up Munster's second try in the 25th minute, with Flynn powering over after a lineout take by Clodagh O'Halloran. Out-half Caitríona Finn dummied through the defence from deep in the 33rd minute before converting her own score to establish a 21-5 half-time lead.
Second-half scoring secures bonus point
Munster expanded their advantage early in the second half when Finn delivered a crossfield kick to McInerney on the right wing for her second try. Flynn drove over for her second try shortly after, and McInerney sealed a hat-trick in the 56th minute after another finish on the right wing, with Finn's fifth conversion pushing the score to 40-5. Connacht number eight Jemima Adams Verling scored from the base of a scrum on the hour mark while Munster loosehead prop Siobhán McCarthy was in the sin-bin. Replacement Abbie Salter-Townshend added Munster's seventh try in the closing stages to complete the 47-12 victory. The defeat ended Connacht's hopes of reaching the final, sending Craig Hansberry's side into the third-place play-off.

Finalists prepare for Galway rematch
Leinster maintained their attacking momentum after the interval despite back-row Erin King receiving a 50th-minute yellow card for a lineout infraction on Moya Hill. Whelan completed her hat-trick with tries in the 44th and 55th minutes, the first coming from an interception of an Ella Durkan pass on the halfway line. Player of the match Ruth Campbell and replacement Nikki Gibson scored tries, before Aoife Dalton and Stacey Flood combined to set up O'Connor for her fifth touchdown. Ulster conceded more than 60 points for the second straight round following their 62-0 loss to Munster. The results confirmed a fourth consecutive Interprovincial Championship final between Munster and Leinster next Saturday at Dexcom Stadium, following Munster's 39-19 opening-round win and their 50-15 victory in last year's decider. Ulster and Connacht will contest the third-place play-off at the same ground.
