A 75-year-old man died on Tuesday after being found unconscious in the water at Praia do Ourigo in Porto. Bystanders pulled him ashore and emergency services attempted resuscitation, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.
On Tuesday afternoon, a 75-year-old man died at Praia do Ourigo in Porto after being found unconscious in the water. The alert was raised at 17:20 via the Douro Maritime Police picket, prompting a response from the local maritime police command, INEM, an emergency medical and resuscitation vehicle (VMER), and the Porto volunteer firefighters. Upon arrival, officers found that bystanders had already pulled the victim from the water. Basic life support was initiated immediately and continued until INEM personnel arrived. Despite these efforts, the INEM doctor declared the man dead at the scene. The body was later transported to the Porto National Institute of Legal Medicine and Forensic Sciences. The cause of the incident remains unknown, and the Douro Maritime Police local command has taken charge of the occurrence.
