Gardaí arrest man after armed incident in Dundalk: less-lethal force used to disarm knife suspect
Uniformed gardaí and the Armed Support Unit responded to a public order incident in an open carpark in Dundalk, Co Louth, at around 9.30pm on July 20. The man was arrested after a less-lethal round was discharged.
A man was arrested after gardaí deployed a less-lethal force option during a public order incident in an open carpark in Dundalk, Co Louth, at approximately 9.30pm on July 20. The man was allegedly armed with a knife. Gardaí said they engaged with him to de-escalate, but he did not comply.
Gardaí from the Armed Support Unit discharged one round from a 40mm less-lethal force option. As a result of this intervention, gardaí were able to disarm the male.
The man is currently detained at Dundalk Garda Station.
