Kołobrzeg suspends pier entry fees for autumn and winter from 1 October
Visitors to the seaside resort of Kołobrzeg can access its 220-metre pier for free starting 1 October 2026, following the close of the paid summer season.
Seasonal transition and opening schedule
On Thursday, 1 October 2026, admission to the pier in Kołobrzeg transitioned to a post-season free model for all visitors and local residents. Wednesday, 30 September 2026, served as the final day of mandatory ticket collection for the 2026 spring and summer tourist season. According to the official regulations issued by the Municipal Sports and Recreation Centre (MOSiR) in Kołobrzeg, entry to the facility will remain free of charge throughout the entire autumn and winter months. The period of open access will continue until 30 April 2027. On that date, which is the final Friday before Poland's May holiday weekend, ticketing will return as the municipality launches its 2027 summer tourism cycle.

Operational expenditure and municipal funding
Maintaining the pier and coastal recreational infrastructure involves municipal expenditures that exceed the revenue generated from ticket sales and commercial activities. Official data compiled by MOSiR for 2025 shows that expenses for maintaining the pier, managing the beach zones, and operating summer bathing areas exceeded 5 million PLN. During the same 2025 period, total revenues collected from coastal operations and pier admissions reached close to 3.5 million PLN. Routine cleaning and waste maintenance across the resort beaches required an additional expenditure of approximately 1.3 million PLN. Consequently, the Kołobrzeg local government provided nearly 2.8 million PLN from the municipal budget to balance coastal operations. Operational and financial totals for the 2026 season have not yet been made public by the municipal sports centre.
Structure dimensions and architectural background
The pier serves as one of the primary coastal landmarks in Kołobrzeg, located in the West Pomeranian Voivodeship and recognized as the largest health resort in Poland. The original walking facility was opened in 1971 and extends directly into the waters of the Baltic Sea. The physical structure measures 220 metres in length and 9 metres in width, with the walking deck situated approximately 4.5 metres above sea level. In 2014, the pier underwent a comprehensive renovation to modernize the promenade and strengthen the marine installation. Following the end of the paid ticketing window on 30 September 2026, pedestrians can walk the 220-metre promenade without purchasing tickets until late April 2027.
