Klaudia Kazimierska sets Polish 1500m record with 3:55.59 in Chorzow
Klaudia Kazimierska lowered the Polish women's 1500-metre record to 3:55.59 at the Kamila Skolimowska Memorial in Chorzow, finishing fourth behind winner Tsige Duguma.
Record run in the 1500 metres
Klaudia Kazimierska set a new Polish national record in the women's 1500 metres at the Kamila Skolimowska Memorial in Chorzow on 23 August 2026. Kazimierska finished fourth with an official time of 3:55.59 during the Diamond League meeting at the Silesian Stadium. Her performance broke the previous national record of 3:57.31 set by Weronika Lizakowska at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris by 1.72 seconds. Kazimierska also lowered her personal best from 3:57.95, recorded in Tokyo in September 2025, by more than two seconds.
Fast pacing and tight finish
Kazimierska had requested a target pace around 3:54.00 from the race organisers before the meeting to test her conditioning. The trackside pacing lights guided the runners toward that mark throughout the opening laps.
I think that I am prepared for 3:54.00-3:55.00 this year, therefore I would like to have at least such an opportunity to try to run that fast.
Kazimierska stayed at the front for much of the distance before three competitors passed her on the closing lap. Ethiopia's Tsige Duguma took first place in 3:55.06, setting the fastest time in the world this season. Australia's Jessica Hull placed second in 3:55.20, while Kenya's Dorcus Ewoi edged Kazimierska for third by 0.01 seconds with a time of 3:55.58. The performance follows Kazimierska's silver medal at the European Championships in Birmingham, her national titles over 800 metres and 1500 metres in Bialystok, and a Polish record in the one-mile run of 4:17.90.
Sprints and hurdles on the track
Pia Skrzyszowska claimed third place in the women's 100-metre hurdles with a time of 12.64 seconds. Alaysha Johnson of the United States took victory in 12.52 seconds, followed by Jamaica's Megan Simmonds in 12.62 seconds.
This is an intensive time for me. I recently returned from the European Championships in Birmingham. On Friday I competed in Lausanne and was travelling all Saturday, but I could not miss Chorzow. The atmosphere is incredible. 12.64 is a good result for this part of the season.
In the women's 400 metres, Olympic champion Marileidy Paulino of the Dominican Republic won in 48.87 seconds. Nikisha Pryce of Jamaica took second and Salwa Eid Naser of Bahrain finished third, while European silver medallist Natalia Bukowiecka placed fourth for Poland.
