JP Kraemer Reverses Company Shutdown as Three Dortmund Businesses Set to Reopen

Management and staff at JP Performance announced on 8 September 2026 that three of Jean Pierre Kraemer's commercial venues in Dortmund will reopen next week. The decision reverses the 45-year-old founder's announcement earlier in September, when he stated in a tearful video that he would permanently shutter his entire corporate group and withdraw from public life. Under the revised plan, the Big Boost Burger restaurant will resume service on Monday, 14 September 2026. The Pace automotive museum and the Carffee cafe are scheduled to reopen two days later, on Wednesday, 16 September 2026.

The company cited corporate responsibility toward its approximately 80 employees, suppliers, service providers, and business partners as the primary reason for resuming operations. The decision was reached following intensive consultations between management, staff, and Kraemer. While the venues will operate under staff supervision, Kraemer will not return to active management and plans to begin therapy.

“Behind these businesses stand people, jobs, families, business partners, and commitments. We carry responsibility toward them and want to do justice to this even in a difficult situation. JP will, as announced by him, continue to take time off and begin his therapy. We respect this step and give him the necessary space and time to concentrate on it.”

Domestic violence allegations and legal inquiry

The operational shutdown had been triggered by domestic violence allegations against Kraemer in late August 2026. The allegations surfaced after a video was published showing physical violence between Kraemer and his 25-year-old wife, Julia Meck. Kraemer publicly admitted to portions of the incident in subsequent video statements, acknowledging that he ripped a necklace from her neck and slapped her with an open hand.

Kraemer initially alleged that his wife had struck him during the altercation. Meck told the German newspaper Bild that she had struck him on the chest in self-defense. The couple has since separated and is undergoing divorce proceedings. The Dortmund public prosecutor (Staatsanwaltschaft Dortmund) initially opened and subsequently closed an investigation into assault and property damage because Meck had initially declined to file a complaint at the scene, and prosecutors found no overriding public interest. The investigation was reopened after a lawyer representing Meck submitted a formal criminal complaint requesting prosecution.

Commercial impact and brand departures

The public revelation of the assault led to swift corporate fallout across Kraemer's media and commercial network. Energy drink brand Goenrgy terminated its sponsorship agreement with Kraemer without notice. German football club Borussia Dortmund removed a joint co-branded merchandise collection from its official fan shop. Television providers and multiple advertising partners also canceled pending productions and commercial contracts.

Kraemer rose to prominence through the television series Die PS-Profis and his YouTube channel JP Performance. In a podcast appearance prior to the controversy, Kraemer stated that his group of companies generated approximately 100 million euros in annual revenue. Company management stated that staff members will now operate the Dortmund locations independently while Kraemer remains on leave.
