Rockstar reveals $80 price for GTA VI, confirms single-player launch and pre-order date
Rockstar Games has set the price of Grand Theft Auto VI at $79.99 for the standard edition and $99.99 for the Ultimate Edition, with pre-orders opening on June 25. The single-player-only launch on November 19 is exclusive to PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, with no PC or Switch 2 version announced.
Pricing and editions
Rockstar Games announced that Grand Theft Auto VI will launch on November 19, 2026, with two editions: a $79.99 Standard Edition containing the base single-player game, and a $99.99 Ultimate Edition featuring an exclusive collection of premium vehicles, weapons, apparel, and in-game missions. The game is exclusive to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Physical copies will contain a download code rather than a disc.
Pre-order incentives
Pre-orders open at midnight local time on June 25. Customers who pre-order either edition before November 20 will receive the Vintage Vice City Pack, a set of items evoking the neon era, and one free month of GTA+, the subscription service for GTA Online. Digital pre-loading begins on November 12.

Sony's platform push
Sony, in a PlayStation Blog post, emphasized that GTA 6 "will play best on PS5" thanks to DualSense haptic feedback, adaptive triggers, Tempest 3D AudioTech, and the console's ultra-fast SSD for near-instant load times. The company is also offering an additional free month of GTA+ to those who pre-order any edition on the PlayStation Store.
Grand Theft Auto 6 will play best on PS5 by taking advantage of PS5's immersive features to deliver a deeply engaging single-player experience.
Fan frustration and upgrade path
Some fans criticized the amount of content locked behind the Ultimate Edition, with one calling it "scummy" and another noting that "Having stores locked behind the Ultimate Edition in a single player game is definitely a choice." However, a listing on the PlayStation Store in New Zealand indicates that an Ultimate Edition upgrade will be offered separately, likely priced around $20.
What’s missing: PC and Switch 2
There is no PC or Nintendo Switch 2 version announced for launch. Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick has previously hinted at the possibility of a Switch 2 port, but the game's file size and hardware demands make it uncertain. For now, the game is exclusive to current-generation consoles.
