Collision on Wilhelmstraße
Late on Saturday evening, 22 August 2026, a head-on collision between two passenger vehicles occurred on Wilhelmstraße in Heidenheim, Baden-Württemberg. According to initial findings provided by local police, the incident took place in the western part of the city when one of the motorists attempted to execute a turn. During the maneuver, the turning driver failed to yield the right of way to an oncoming automobile approaching on the same road. The traffic violation resulted in a direct frontal collision between the two cars as they met on the carriageway. Both vehicles suffered heavy front-end damage as a consequence of the sudden impact.

The mechanical force of the frontal impact immediately propelled both vehicles off their driving line and threw them across the intersection. The momentum carried the two cars directly into a roadside traffic light mast situated along the edge of Wilhelmstraße. Under the direct force of the collision, the vertical signal pole collapsed and fell over onto the ground, destroying the intersection traffic control installation. The violent impact left a large debris field consisting of vehicle fragments, broken glass, and structural components scattered across the street in the western district.
