Volunteer firefighter dies after collapsing following routine fitness test in Schleswig-Holstein

The exercise required participants to complete sport-like tasks while wearing full protective gear and breathing apparatus. The firefighter joined the drill alongside other members of the volunteer unit.
Collapse after the meal
When the exercise concluded, the group of firefighters drove to a fast-food restaurant. There the 54-year-old suddenly collapsed. Emergency services were alerted, and he was transported to a hospital.
Death confirmed
He died at the hospital. The Kreisfeuerwehrverband Schleswig-Flensburg expressed shock and offered condolences to the family. A spokesperson for the fire service confirmed the sequence of events but provided no further details on the cause of death.
