Chloe Fineman exits SNL after seven seasons, joins Netflix's Myron Bolitar as series regular

A bittersweet goodbye to Studio 8H

Chloe Fineman confirmed last week that she will not return for Saturday Night Live's 52nd season, ending a seven-year run that began when she joined as a featured player in 2019. In an Instagram post, she wrote that leaving was hard but felt like "the right time," adding that the people at the show are her family and the studio is her home. Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter at the premiere of her new film The Dink on 20 July, Fineman described the decision as "bittersweet" and said she was "really proud of everything, but it's hard."

The Myron Bolitar opportunity

Fineman's next chapter arrived quickly. On 20 July, Netflix announced she will be a series regular in Myron Bolitar, an adaptation of Harlan Coben's thriller novels about an NBA star turned sports agent. The project is co-showrun, written, and executive produced by David E. Kelley and Kyle Long. Fineman said the offer came "completely out of the blue" just as her SNL contract was ending. She did a chemistry read and "it was off to the races."

Red carpet reflections at The Dink premiere

At the Los Angeles premiere of The Dink, a pickleball comedy co-starring Jake Johnson and Ben Stiller that debuts Friday on Apple TV, Fineman shared that her former SNL castmate Colin Jost called her earlier that day because it was her birthday. "I fully cried," she said. She described the cast as a family and noted she has been "crying like sweet tears" as colleagues reach out. Fineman also said she looks forward to watching SNL as an audience member for the first time, since she will remain in New York.

Casting details and character roles

Fineman will play Parker Quinn, a sports reporter for a major publication known for her dogged reporting and passion for the game. Jabari Banks (Bel-Air) joins as Dwayne Richmond, a charismatic tennis prodigy and star client at MB Sports. Jamie McShane (Task, Wednesday) plays Detective Ray Dimonte, a seasoned NYPD homicide detective. Ben McKenzie (Gotham) appears as recurring guest star Gavin Pierce, a powerful agent who dropped Myron after his injury and never reconciled. They join previously announced leads Colin Woodell as Myron Bolitar, KJ Apa, and Diane Guerrero.

Filming begins

Production on Myron Bolitar starts the week of 21 July, giving Fineman an immediate transition from sketch comedy to a serialised thriller. Netflix originally ordered the series in May 2026 as part of its upfront presentation to advertisers. Greg Yaitanes (Presumed Innocent, House of the Dragon) will executive produce and direct multiple episodes. Matthew Tinker, Harlan Coben, and Rick Muirragui also serve as executive producers.
