Preparations for the regional elections in Castile and León, scheduled for March 15, have entered a crucial stage. The Spanish public broadcaster RTVE confirmed it will hold a debate on March 5 with the participation of the three main political forces: the People's Party (PP), the Spanish Socialist Workers' Party (PSOE), and the Vox party. This decision was sanctioned by the Central Electoral Board, which rejected appeals from smaller regional parties, such as Soria Ya and En Común, demanding to take part in the discussion. The debate will be divided into four thematic blocks, and RTVE has additionally offered a direct "face-to-face" duel between the two largest formations. The incumbent regional president, Alfonso Fernández Mañueco, launched his campaign under the slogan "Certainty Here," promising to extend tax relief for municipalities with 10,000 to 30,000 inhabitants and support for the emancipation of young people in rural areas. Mañueco can count on strong support from Madrid – Alberto Núñez Feijóo and former prime ministers José María Aznar and Mariano Rajoy will be involved in his campaign. The PP's strategy aims to consolidate the centrist electorate, while polls indicate a stable lead for the right, although Mañueco warns his voters against excessive optimism and appeals for high turnout.Castile and León is a historic stronghold of the Spanish center-right, where the People's Party has governed almost uninterrupted since 1987, making this region a key testing ground ahead of national elections.
