Ukrainian drones hit Wildberries warehouses in Russia, killing at least 8 and injuring over 60
Ukrainian drones struck two Wildberries logistics centres deep inside Russia overnight, killing at least eight people and injuring more than 60, while air defences intercepted over 370 drones aimed at the Moscow region.
The attacks
During the night of 17–18 July 2026, Ukrainian drones struck two logistics centres of Wildberries, Russia's largest e-commerce company, in the Tambov and Moscow regions. The attack on a warehouse in Kotovsk, Tambov region, killed seven night-shift employees and injured 24, regional governor Evgueni Pervishov said. In Elektrostal, east of Moscow, falling drone debris caused one death and 37 injuries, Moscow region governor Andrei Vorobiov reported. A separate strike on an oil depot in Noginsk injured two people and forced the evacuation of a nearby maternity hospital. Drone fragments also fell on a kindergarten in Elektrostal without causing casualties.

Casualties and damage
Pervishov described the Tambov strike as a planned terrorist attack, adding that the drones carried shrapnel to maximise casualties. Wildberries called the night "terrible" in a statement. The fire in Kotovsk was extinguished by morning, while the Elektrostal warehouse burned for hours. Russian air defences intercepted over 370 drones heading for the Moscow region, with 64 destroyed near the capital, mayor Sergei Sobianin said. Airports at Domodedovo and Zhukovski were affected. In Tambov, 28 drones were shot down, Pervishov noted.

Ukraine's justification
President Volodymyr Zelensky stated on X that the two logistics facilities, located over 500 and near 700 kilometres from the front line, were used to supply sanctioned components for the production of drones and navigation equipment. He also confirmed strikes on an oil depot and targets in the Sea of Azov, the Black Sea, and occupied Crimea. In the Black Sea, a vessel flagged to Antigua and Barbuda was hit, leaving one dead and three injured, according to Odesa's governor.
Se han alcanzado dos grandes instalaciones logísticas -en las regiones de Moscú y Tambov, a más de 500 y cerca de 700 kilómetros de la línea del frente.
Russian response
Deputy Health Minister Alexei Kuznetsov said 30 victims were receiving hospital treatment in the Moscow region, seven in serious condition. Pervishov reminded residents of the ban on filming and publishing drone attack consequences. Sobianin emphasised that most drones were neutralised before reaching Moscow.
La mayoría fueron derribados por las defensas antiaéreas cuando aún se encontraban lejos. Sesenta y cuatro drones enemigos fueron destruidos al acercarse a Moscú.
Wider context
Ukraine has intensified long-range drone strikes on Russian logistics and energy infrastructure in recent months, aiming to disrupt supply lines and reduce Moscow's war funding. The latest strikes follow a pattern of attacks deep inside Russian territory, including Moscow and St. Petersburg, which have triggered fuel shortages since late June. On the same night, Russian attacks in Ukraine killed one person and injured 13, local authorities said.
