Vehicle breaches building wall
A passenger vehicle crashed directly into a building in the old town area of Bamberg on the late afternoon of 23 August 2026. The impact breached the exterior wall of the house, causing the vehicle to become wedged within the structure. Police reported that two occupants traveling inside the vehicle were severely injured in the crash. The specific reasons behind the vehicle losing control and colliding with the property remain undetermined. Emergency response teams and police units immediately secured the perimeter around the damaged site.
Trajectory across the restaurant terrace
Eye-witnesses at the location provided details regarding the trajectory of the car to a dpa reporter. The vehicle initially drove through the outdoor seating area of a restaurant located along the street. No patrons were sitting in the outdoor area at the moment of the crash, preventing bystander injuries. After crossing the terrace, the car crashed through a railing. It then continued across a lower path before striking the facade of the building head-on.
