Loan terms and Portuguese move

German Bundesliga club VfB Stuttgart and Portuguese Primeira Liga team CF Estrela da Amadora have concluded an agreement for the season-long loan of forward Jeremy Arévalo. The transfer arrangement is valid until the conclusion of the 2026/27 campaign and does not contain a purchase option. The 21-year-old attacker completed his required medical examinations successfully before the paperwork was finalised between both clubs. Estrela da Amadora released an official statement on Friday late evening welcoming the recruit to the Reboleira, wishing him success as he integrates into the squad. Amadora chief Johannes Mösmang had previously discussed the club's transfer market planning during a broadcast appearance on Sky on Deadline Day. Stuttgart publicly confirmed the loan arrangement immediately following their 4-1 league victory over 1. FC Köln.

Stuttgart offensive roster changes

The temporary departure of the Ecuadorian international is part of an ongoing effort by Stuttgart to reduce the size of their first-team squad. The German club possesses significant depth across their attacking positions, which restricted opportunities for younger forwards seeking regular playing time. Arévalo joined Stuttgart on a long-term contract that extends until the summer of 2031, but the player struggled to establish himself within the senior team rotation over the past half year. Stuttgart sporting director Fabian Wohlgemuth pointed to competitive match rhythm as the core objective behind the loan to Portugal.

For Jeremy, the loan to Estrela Amadora is the right career step at this point in time to gain match practice and further experience in the Portuguese top flight.

The agreement represents the second attacking departure from Stuttgart in the space of two days. On Thursday, the German club also arranged a one-season loan for forward Badredine Bouanani, sending him to Scottish Premiership side Glasgow Rangers.

Transition from Spain to Germany

Stuttgart originally signed Arévalo in January 2026 from Spanish second-division team Racing Santander, committing a transfer fee of 7.5 million euros to secure the young forward. Prior to his departure from Spain, Arévalo played a central role in Racing Santander's push for promotion to La Liga, scoring eight goals in 18 appearances during the opening half of the season. Following his winter arrival in Germany, however, the attacker saw limited involvement in the Bundesliga. Arévalo made seven competitive appearances for Stuttgart, recording one assist across that span while struggling to secure a regular starting spot against the club's offensive competition.

International record and career outlook

Arévalo was born in Spain but chose to represent Ecuador at senior international level, earning four caps for the South American national team to date. His performances in club football earned him a place in Ecuador's squad for the 2026 World Cup, though he did not register any game time during the tournament fixtures. The move to Estrela da Amadora offers the 21-year-old forward an opportunity to gain regular first-team minutes in the top tier of Portuguese football. The Amadora coaching staff intends to integrate Arévalo immediately into their attacking options as they compete through the 2026/27 domestic season.
