Andriejewa climbs to No. 5 in WTA ranking without playing; Linette and Kawa rise after strong weeks

Mirra Andriejewa moved to fifth in the WTA ranking on 15 June 2026 despite not playing since her French Open title. Magda Linette jumped 12 spots to 48th after a grass‑court semifinal, and Katarzyna Kawa climbed to 120th after winning the WTA 125 in Modena.

The latest WTA singles ranking, released on 15 June 2026, brought several notable moves among Polish players while the top of the table saw only one change inside the top 10.

Top‑10 shift

Mirra Andriejewa, the 19‑year‑old French Open champion, overtook Amanda Anisimova to claim fifth place. Anisimova, who reached the final at Queen’s Club a year ago, could only reach the quarter‑finals this time and lost the points that kept her ahead. Andriejewa therefore matches her career‑high ranking from July to October 2025 without stepping on court since Roland Garros.

Aryna Sabalenka remains the world No. 1 with 9,090 points, followed by Jelena Rybakina (8,143), Iga Świątek (6,733) and Jessica Pegula (6,056). Świątek holds a lead of just under 700 points over Pegula and stays third.

Polish breakthroughs

Magda Linette was the biggest mover among the Polish contingent. She reached the semifinals of the WTA 250 in ’s‑Hertogenbosch, falling to Barbora Krejcikova in three sets, and rose from No. 60 to No. 48. It puts her back inside the top 50 alongside three other Poles: Świątek (3), French Open finalist Maja Chwalińska (21) and Magdalena Fręch (45), who slipped two places.

Katarzyna Kawa posted the largest ranking gain of any Pole. The 33‑year‑old from Krynica‑Zdrój won the WTA 125 tournament in Modena, saving a match point in the final to beat Lucia Bronzetti 6:1, 4:6, 7:6(6). That lifted her from No. 143 to a career‑high No. 120, adding to her earlier title in Huzhou, China, in May.

WTA Race and the road to the Finals

The WTA Race, which determines the eight players for the season‑ending WTA Finals, still has Andriejewa at the top with 4,928 points. Świątek is 11th with 1,823 points, while Chwalińska dropped one spot to 15th after accumulating 1,454 points.

Further down, Linda Klimovicova fell two places to 166th, and Martyna Kubka reached a new career high of 230 after making the final of an ITF event in Hurghada, Egypt. Donna Vekić, the Queen’s Club champion, rose to 33rd, and Robin Montgomery, the ’s‑Hertogenbosch winner, vaulted to 194th.
