Amazon renews 'Every Year After' for Season 2, shifting focus to Charlie's story in 'One Golden Summer' adaptation
Prime Video has greenlit a second season of its romantic drama 'Every Year After,' less than a month after its debut. The new season will adapt Carley Fortune's sequel book 'One Golden Summer,' centering on Charlie Florek's love story.
Renewal confirmed
Prime Video announced the renewal on 27 June 2026, less than a month after the first season's debut. The series, based on Carley Fortune's New York Times bestselling novel "Every Summer After," has drawn strong audience response for the streamer.
The response to 'Every Year After' has been truly extraordinary, underscoring the universal appeal of Carley Fortune's storytelling and the deep connection audiences have formed with the world of Barry's Bay.
Season 2 shifts to Charlie's story
The second season will adapt Fortune's follow-up novel "One Golden Summer," which focuses on Charlie Florek, Sam's brother. The book is told from the perspective of Alice Everly, a photographer who took a significant photo of the three young people one summer. In the season 1 finale, a cliffhanger set up Charlie meeting Alice, and a final scene showed Charlie having a medical episode while looking at the photo.
Returning creative team
Showrunner Amy B. Harris will continue to helm the series, with Fortune serving as executive producer alongside Lindsey Liberatore, Amy Rardin, John Stephens and Grace Gilroy.
I think this season was about will they-won't they, and next season will be about how will they.
Cast and characters
Michael Bradway will lead the new season as Charlie, with Sadie Soverall (Percy) and Matt Cornett (Sam) also returning. Aurora Perrineau, Abigail Cowen and Joseph Chiu are also reprising their roles from season one. Elisha Cuthbert appeared in the first season as the brothers' mother Sue, but her involvement in season two has not been confirmed.
