Toyota Motor Europe has announced the opening of a Sustainable Cycle Factory on the premises of its existing plant in Wałbrzych. This is the company's second such investment in Europe, aimed at recovering parts from end-of-life vehicles. The 25,000-square-meter project will utilize existing production hall infrastructure, and the process of recycling nearly 20,000 cars per year is set to launch later this year.
New Recycling Center
A Sustainable Cycle Factory will be established in Wałbrzych, processing nearly 20,000 end-of-life vehicles annually.
Adaptation of Existing Halls
The 25,000-square-meter project will be implemented inside current company buildings without the need for new construction.
Second Such Factory in Europe
Poland was chosen due to its developed recycling sector and the potential of the automotive market.
The Toyota Motor Europe (TME) group has announced a strategic decision to locate its second Sustainable Cycle Factory in Europe in Wałbrzych, Lower Silesia. The investment will be carried out within the structures of Toyota Motor Manufacturing Poland (TMMP) and will cover an area of 25,000 square meters. Importantly, the company does not plan to construct new buildings but intends to adapt unused spaces within the current production halls. The new plant will focus on dismantling and recovering components from end-of-life vehicles, aligning with the global strategy of striving for zero emissions and a full circular economy. Toyota has been present in Wałbrzych since 1999, and its local plant has become a key production site for hybrid drive transmissions for the European market. The choice of Poland for the location of this groundbreaking project was not accidental. Company representatives point to the highly developed recycling sector in the country and the significant potential of the market for vehicles destined for dismantling. The planned capacity of the factory is the processing of approximately 20,000 cars per year. Although the exact investment amount has not yet been publicly disclosed, Grzegorz Górski from TMMP confirmed that the investment process has already begun. The start of operations is planned for the end of 2026, positioning Poland at the forefront of ecological changes in the automotive industry. 20,000 — cars per year to be processed by the new plant In addition to classic dismantling, the factory will emphasize the recovery of valuable raw materials from batteries and drive system components. Toyota intends to implement a reverse logistics model, where used parts, after appropriate refurbishment, will re-enter the market as fully functional components. Experts emphasize that such an approach significantly reduces the carbon footprint of automotive production and makes Europe less dependent on the import of rare materials. „This is the beginning of the investment process, and for now, the company is not disclosing the costs associated with launching the new factory.” — Grzegorz Górski [{"dataISO": "2026-02-19", "data": "February 19, 2026", "event": "Official announcement of the investment in Wałbrzych"}, {"dataISO": "2026-12-31", "data": "December 2026", "event": "Planned launch of the recycling line"}]
