Nationwide police and Border Guard operation: nearly two thousand people detained

The last 24 hours brought an unprecedented intensification of actions by Polish law enforcement agencies. The central point of reports is a giant operation coordinated by the Ministry of the Interior and Administration, involving the police and the Border Guard. The outcome of these actions is significant: 1,714 wanted persons were detained, including 1,567 by the police and 147 by the judiciary. Additionally, around 150 foreigners staying in Poland without required documents or violating residence rules fell into the hands of the services. The operation covered all voivodeships, focusing on individuals hiding from justice. An investigation in Wrocław also ended successfully, where criminal investigators detained two men from Africa. They are suspected of stealing over 2,200 smartwatches from a warehouse, with a market value exceeding 770,000 zloty. Officers managed to recover a significant portion of the property before it reached fences. The Polish Police has been a member of Interpol since 1990, enabling the lightning-fast exchange of information about the most dangerous criminals in real time with nearly two hundred countries worldwide.Simultaneously, the services recorded significant successes in the fight against international and organized crime. A man wanted with an Interpol Red Notice for a brutal robbery in Brazil was apprehended. At the local level, police from the Opole region dismantled a drug warehouse where marijuana and other narcotics were stored in plastic buckets. Actions targeting fraudsters also continue unabated. Recently, a perpetrator of the "on the accident" scam was detained, who preyed on the empathy of elderly people by convincing them of the need to pay bail for relatives who allegedly caused a road tragedy. Police emphasize that despite the digitalization of crime, traditional manipulation methods remain an effective tool in the hands of criminals. The institution of police surveillance and the system of wanted notices in Poland have evolved since the interwar period, becoming the foundation for the effective search for individuals avoiding prison sentences.It is also worth noting traffic incidents that illustrate the scale of recklessness on Polish roads. In Szczecin, a motorcyclist sped across the Pioneers Bridge at 130 km/h, while in another region, police pursued a 12-year-old riding a quad bike. A separate chapter consists of detentions of drivers with lifetime driving bans. In Oleśnica, a man was apprehended who not only violated a 12-year court ban but was also staying in Poland illegally. All these actions paint a picture of a broad offensive by the state against individuals disregarding the legal order, aimed at a leap in improving citizens' sense of security.
