The Tatra Volunteer Search and Rescue (TOPR) made the difficult decision to suspend the search operation for 30-year-old Andrzej Dubiel. The man went missing on February 14 in the Kasprowy Wierch area. Despite deploying numerous resources, including drones and a helicopter, no trace of the tourist has been found. Deteriorating weather and an increase in avalanche danger to the third level have made it impossible to safely continue the rescue operation in the difficult high-mountain terrain.

Increase in avalanche danger

Rescuers had to withdraw from the area due to level three avalanche danger, which poses a direct threat to the search teams.

Last trace from surveillance

A camera captured the 30-year-old man while riding up to Kasprowy Wierch on February 14, which is the last confirmed evidence of his presence in the mountains.

International cooperation of services

The operation involved the Polish TOPR and the Slovak service Mountain Rescue Service, utilizing advanced equipment, including drones and a helicopter.

The search operation conducted in the Kasprowy Wierch area has been officially suspended by TOPR rescuers. This decision is dictated by extremely difficult weather conditions and a sharp increase in avalanche danger, which has reached level three on the five-level scale. The missing person is Andrzej Dubiel, a 30-year-old resident of Warsaw, who was last seen on Saturday, February 14. Surveillance footage recorded the moment the man was riding the cable car to the summit of Kasprowy Wierch. Since then, despite intensive attempts to contact him, the tourist's phone remains inactive, and he has not made any contact with his family. The Tatra Volunteer Search and Rescue, founded in 1909, is one of the oldest mountain rescue organizations in the world, established after the tragic death of composer Mieczysław Karłowicz in an avalanche. In the Thursday phase of the operation, 22 rescuers were involved, who, with the support of a police helicopter and specialized drones, combed designated sectors. The actions were conducted not only on the Polish side but also in cooperation with the Mountain Rescue Service (the Slovak equivalent of TOPR) on the southern slopes of the Tatra Mountains. Unfortunately, dense fog and heavy snowfall limited visibility and increased the risk for the rescuers themselves. Representatives of the rescue service emphasize that the operation will be resumed immediately after improvement in weather conditions and stabilization of the snow cover. The services appeal to all people in the mountains to exercise extreme caution and strictly adhere to <przypis title=
