Law and Justice will officially present its candidate for the office of Prime Minister on Saturday, March 7. This decision was confirmed by the party's spokesman Rafał Bochenek. This event coincides with intense debate over the EU's SAFE program, which is eliciting extreme emotions—from public support to sharp accusations of loss of sovereignty and marginalization of the Polish defense industry by Donald Tusk's government.

Conflict with the President
Karol Nawrocki criticizes being left out of talks about a French nuclear umbrella for Poland.
Law and Justice is preparing for a key political offensive, the culmination of which will be the announcement of a candidate for Prime Minister of Poland. The official presentation scheduled for March 7 is intended to serve as a substantive response to the actions of the current coalition. President Karol Nawrocki, commenting on these reports, expressed his conviction that the person indicated by Jarosław Kaczyński will substantively outmatch Donald Tusk. At the same time, tensions are arising within the largest opposition party, and unofficial reports suggest, among other things, friction between the party leader and Przemysław Czarnek as well as Mateusz Morawiecki. Concurrently, a conflict is escalating between the Presidential Palace and the Prime Minister's Chancellery over national security. President Nawrocki publicly accused the government of a lack of transparency in talks with France regarding nuclear protection, calling it an „unacceptable” action. The main point of economic dispute has become the SAFE program, which divides public opinion and the political class. Although polls indicate high public support for this mechanism, conservative media are warning about the existence of a „secret procurement list” that allegedly favors foreign corporations at the expense of Polish defense companies. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defense Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz, during a visit to the USA, called for accelerating the pace of industrial production, emphasizing the need for Europe to „shift into sixth gear”. Critics of the SAFE program, however, point to risks related to so-called milestones, which could limit Polish decision-making power in the energy and defense sectors. Poland has for years sought a permanent presence of allied troops and the strengthening of its own defense industry, which after Russia's aggression against Ukraine in 2022 became a priority of the national security strategy. In the local government sphere, President Karol Nawrocki made significant personnel changes, appointing Lucjusz Nadbereżny, the mayor of Stalowa Wola, to the position of Chairman of the Council of Territorial Self-Government to the President of Poland. This act is intended to strengthen the voice of local governments in dialogue with central authorities, particularly in the context of discussions about term limits for village heads, town mayors, and city mayors. Nawrocki emphasized that while his declarations will not change the current legal situation, protecting local autonomy remains the foundation of an efficient state. Meanwhile, the Ministry of State Assets is reassuring citizens regarding misinformation about alleged fuel shortages, assuring them of stable supplies despite the tense geopolitical situation in the Middle East. „To jest niedopuszczalne, aby o tak kluczowych sprawach jak rozmowy o parasolu nuklearnym prezydent dowiadywał się z mediów.” — Karol Nawrocki
