Eurojackpot Hit for 120 Million Euros in Czech Republic, Multiple Million-Euro Wins Across Germany
After 13 draws without a winner, the maximum 120 million euro Eurojackpot was cracked by a player in the Czech Republic, while four German states and Norway shared second-tier prizes.
The Jackpot Falls
After 13 consecutive draws without a top-tier winner, the Eurojackpot reached its statutory maximum of 120 million euros. A player or syndicate in the Czech Republic correctly matched all five main numbers and both Euro numbers to claim the entire sum. The winning numbers drawn in Helsinki were 5, 11, 23, 33, and 42, with Euro numbers 10 and 12.
German States Celebrate
While the jackpot went abroad, Germany saw significant wins in the second prize tier. Four of the five winners in this class were German, each receiving approximately 4.04 million euros. The prizes were distributed across North Rhine-Westphalia, Thuringia, and Saxony—the latter claiming two of the wins. The fifth second-tier prize went to a player in Norway.
The prizes of four million euros each were paid out in prize class 2—to players who correctly guessed all the winning numbers plus one of the two Euro numbers.
How the Jackpot Grew
The Eurojackpot jackpot accumulates when no player correctly picks 5 out of 50 main numbers and 2 out of 12 Euro numbers. Once the legally mandated cap of 120 million euros is reached, excess funds flow into the second prize tier, increasing those payouts as well. The draw is coordinated by Westlotto in Münster and takes place in Helsinki.
Recent Jackpot History
This marks the eighth Eurojackpot cracked this year, with nine winners in total. The most recent wins before this draw occurred in early April, when 5 million euros each went to Finland and Slovakia. The last German jackpot winner was on March 31, from North Rhine-Westphalia, taking home 70.7 million euros. The German record remains with a Berliner who won in November 2022, a feat matched by a winner from Schleswig-Holstein in June 2023.
Odds and Warnings
The probability of winning the Eurojackpot is 1 in 140 million. Experts caution that gambling can be addictive. It remains unclear whether the winners in the second prize tier are individuals or syndicates.
