From March 11, 2026, drivers traveling on the A2 motorway between Konin and Nowy Tomyśl must prepare for higher costs. The company Autostrada Wielkopolska S.A. has raised the toll for each of the three 50-kilometer sections to 40 PLN for passenger cars.
New tariff from March 11
The toll rate for one section for passenger cars increases from 37 PLN to 40 PLN, totaling 120 PLN for the Konin – Nowy Tomyśl route.
Another increase in a short time
The price change comes just six months after the previous increase, which took place in September 2025.
Operator's justification
Autostrada Wielkopolska S.A. explains the price hike by citing maintenance costs, debt servicing, and investments in the expansion of the Poznań bypass.
Exceptions in fees
The increase does not apply to the state-owned section Konin – Stryków or the Świecko – Nowy Tomyśl section, where different rates are in effect.
From March 11, 2026, toll rates are increasing on the A2 motorway section managed by Autostrada Wielkopolska S.A. The change affects a 150-kilometer stretch of the route between Nowy Tomyśl and Konin, where the toll for each of the three 50-kilometer sections will rise for passenger cars from 37 PLN to 40 PLN. Drivers of category 1 vehicles will now pay a total of 120 PLN to travel the entire distance covered by the new tariff. The increase also applies to motorcyclists, whose rate for one section will rise from 19 PLN to 20 PLN, which includes the 50% discount applied by the operator. The company argues that the changes are necessary due to rising infrastructure maintenance costs and debt servicing. Autostrada Wielkopolska S.A. announced the new rates in advance, indicating Wednesday as the effective date for the fee schedule.
The decision to raise prices comes just six months after the last tariff change, which took place in September 2025. Such a short interval between adjustments is causing concern among travelers, who will now pay an average of 80 groszy per kilometer of the route for passenger cars. It is worth noting that the changes do not cover all sections managed by the concessionaire. The section from Świecko to Nowy Tomyśl remains at the current rate of 18 PLN for 106 kilometers, which is a stark contrast to the prices in effect east of Nowy Tomyśl. The tolled section of the A2 motorway between Nowy Tomyśl and Konin is divided into three segments: Nowy Tomyśl – Poznań, Poznań – Września, and Września – Konin. Each is approximately 50 kilometers long and has its own toll collection points. The concession system on this section differs from state-owned sections, where tolls for passenger cars were abolished in 2023.
Drivers of trucks and buses must also prepare for higher expenses, although the specific amounts for individual heavy vehicle categories vary depending on weight and number of axles. The new tariff becomes one of the most expensive in the entire country, placing the Greater Poland section of the A2 among the most costly routes in Europe. Representatives of the transport industry point out that each such change directly translates into logistics costs and the prices of goods on store shelves. 120 (Polish złoty) — cost of driving a passenger car from Konin to Nowy Tomyśl Change in A2 tolls (Cat. 1): Price per 50 km: 37 PLN → 40 PLN; Cost of entire section (150 km): 111 PLN → 120 PLN; Rate for motorcycles (50 km): 19 PLN → 20 PLN
The introduction of the new fees coincides with growing criticism of the concession systems in Poland, which generate significant differences in travel costs between different regions of the country. While some motorways remain free for private users, the route connecting Warsaw with Berlin creates a financial barrier for many drivers. Transport market experts predict that some local traffic may shift to alternative roads, increasing the burden on national and regional routes running parallel to the motorway.
