The proceedings concern the rental of apartments belonging to the institution at a time when the current head of state served as its director. Investigators have already sent an official letter to the President's Chancellery, requesting the scheduling of a date and location for Karol Nawrocki to give testimony. According to applicable regulations, the questioning of a sitting president can take place at the Presidential Palace, and the prosecutor's office is currently awaiting a response from the chancellery officials.

Representatives of the Presidential Palace inform that as of Wednesday evening, no formal summons for the president had been received by the office. Błażej Poboży, an advisor to the president, stated publicly that he learned of the prosecutor's plans from media reports, not through official channels. He emphasized that Karol Nawrocki will certainly address the matter once the documents are delivered and analyzed by legal services. Karol Nawrocki assumed the office of President of the Republic of Poland on August 6, 2025. Previously, from 2021 to 2025, he served as president of the Institute of National Remembrance, and from 2017 to 2021, he was director of the Museum of the Second World War in Gdańsk.
