Body of Missing Businessman Ricardo Claro Found in Loulé with Signs of Violent Death

The body of Ricardo Claro, a 50-year-old businessman and human resources director of the luxury restaurant Well in Vale do Lobo, was found on April 2, 2026, in a scrubland area in the Esteval zone of Loulé, in Portugal's Algarve region. Suspect already in preventive detention since mid-March During the course of the investigation, which began in mid-March, the PJ identified and detained a 39-year-old suspect who remains in preventive detention. Investigators determined, on an evidentiary basis, that Claro had been the target of a criminal plan involving kidnapping and robbery. According to the PJ, the alleged motive was to misappropriate valuables that the victim was carrying or to which he could gain access. The PJ has not disclosed the identity of the detained suspect or further details about the alleged perpetrator's background. Authorities stressed that the investigation remains open, as all facts surrounding the crime still need to be fully established.
