Italian fashion house Etro has announced that Marco De Vincenzo is stepping down as creative director by mutual agreement, marking the end of a four-year tenure and the start of a new strategic phase for the brand.
Departure After Milan Fashion Week
De Vincenzo's exit follows his final show at Milan Fashion Week and is described as a mutual decision to align with Etro's new strategic direction.
End of Family Era
The departure comes shortly after the founding Etro family sold its remaining minority stake in December 2025, completing their exit from the company.
New Corporate Structure
Etro is now backed by L Catterton and new minority investors including Rams Global, with Faruk Bülbül serving as chairman.
Marco De Vincenzo is stepping down as the creative director of Etro after nearly four years in the role, the Italian fashion house announced on March 12, 2026. The departure follows the designer's final collection presented during the recent Milan Fashion Week and was described by both parties as a mutual agreement. Marco De Vincenzo joined the brand in June 2022, tasked with interpreting the heritage of the label for a modern audience. The company stated that this transition marks the beginning of a new strategic phase aimed at further evolving the brand's global presence. Fabrizio Cardinali remains the CEO of the fashion house.
The leadership change follows a total restructuring of the company's ownership completed in late 2025. In December 2025, the founding Etro family sold its remaining minority stake and officially exited the business they established decades ago. L Catterton, a private equity firm backed by LVMH, maintains its position as the majority shareholder. The brand's new investor landscape now includes Rams Global, Swinger International, and SRI Group, who joined as minority partners during the December 2025 transition. Faruk Bülbül, representing Rams Global, was appointed as the chairman of the board as part of this corporate shift.
Marco De Vincenzo expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to lead the creative vision of the historic house during a period of significant change. The designer, who also serves as the head of leather goods for Fendi, was the first person outside the Etro family to hold the creative director title for all collections. During his tenure, he focused on reimagining the brand's signature paisley patterns and expanding the accessories category. The company has not yet named a successor to lead the creative department for the upcoming seasons.
Etro was founded in 1968 as a textile company before expanding into ready-to-wear and luxury accessories. The brand became globally recognized in 1981 when it introduced the paisley motif, which remains its most iconic visual signature. For over fifty years, the company remained under the direct control of the Etro family until L Catterton acquired a 60% majority stake in July 2021. The final exit of the family in December 2025 ended an era of family management that had defined the house since its inception.
