In Poland, a crucial period has begun for filing tax returns for 2025 and enrolling in key social programs. Taxpayers can now use the 'Your e-PIT' service, while people with disabilities gain access to electricity cost refunds and subsidies from PFRON under the 'Active Local Government' initiative. Simultaneously, parents are pushing for an increase in the family tax relief income limit, and teachers have their final days to consult on new teacher training standards.
Start of PIT Settlements
The Your e-PIT service has been active since February 15. Taxpayers can deduct reliefs: family, rehabilitation, and for internet (up to 760 PLN or 1,520 PLN for married couples).
Support for People with Disabilities
Enrollment has opened for a 600 PLN subsidy for energy costs for people receiving home-based treatment. Starting March 1, PFRON accepts applications for education funding under the Active Local Government program.
Consultations for Teachers
Comments on new teacher training standards can be submitted only until February 27. The draft proposes standardizing programs and limiting remote education.
Ecology Grants in Pruszków
Residents of Pruszków can apply from February 23 for 15,000 PLN to replace coal furnaces and connect to the heating network.
From February 15, 2026, Polish taxpayers can file their annual PIT returns for 2025. The Ministry of Finance has made pre-filled declarations available via the Your e-PIT service and the e-Tax Office app. Your e-PIT allows for a quick refund of overpaid tax, averaging 1,800 PLN. ZUS has already sent over 10 million PIT-40A, PIT-11A, and PIT-11 forms to pensioners and disability benefit recipients. Seniors who received a PIT-40A do not need to take any action unless they wish to donate 1.5% of their tax to a public benefit organization – they have until April 30 to do so. Concurrently, significant financial support programs have been launched. People with disabilities who use medical devices requiring electricity can apply for an electricity subsidy of up to 100 PLN per month (600 PLN total). Applications are accepted by PFRON under the 'Active Local Government' program. Starting March 1, 2026, enrollment will also open for applications for study funding and the purchase of rehabilitation equipment for students with a disability certificate. Experts remind about the possibilities of the rehabilitation tax relief, which allows deducting expenses for medicines and equipment if supported by a specialist doctor's recommendation. The system of tax reliefs in Poland underwent a significant reform as part of the so-called Polish Deal in 2022, which raised the tax-free allowance to 30,000 PLN and changed deduction rules for millions of citizens. In the area of family policy, a debate is intensifying around the child tax relief. A complaint has been filed with the Commissioner for Human Rights regarding the income limit frozen since 2013 (112,000 PLN), which, given the dynamic increase in the minimum wage, excludes a growing number of parents from the benefit. Parents of children aged 12–35 months can still use the 'Active Parents at Work' program, receiving 1,500 PLN monthly. Important changes also await education – public consultations on new teacher training standards, which are to introduce, among other things, limits on remote classes, are ongoing until February 27. „You need to check the pre-filled e-PIT, as it might lack the tax reliefs we are entitled to, which actually lower the tax.” — Grzegorz Ziółkowski
