The Enea Group has inaugurated the construction of two modern combined-cycle gas turbine (CCGT) units at the Kozienice Power Plant. The investment, valued at over PLN 7 billion, is crucial for Poland's energy security. The new units, with a total gross capacity of 1,336 megawatts, are scheduled to be commissioned in the first half of 2029. The project is distinguished by a high share of Polish subcontractors, estimated at 75 percent.
Substantial Generation Capacity
Two units with a total gross capacity of 1,336 MW will be built, strengthening the stability of the national power system in 2029.
Billion-Dollar Investment
The cost of the investment in Kozienice exceeds PLN 7 billion, making it one of the largest energy projects in the country.
Support for Polish Companies
As much as 75 percent of the work will be carried out by domestic contractors, translating into new jobs.
The Enea Group has officially commenced one of the most significant investments in the Polish energy sector—the construction of two combined-cycle gas turbine (CCGT) units at the Kozienice Power Plant. Work has entered the execution phase following the handover of the site to the general contractor on January 2, 2026. Currently, geological and geotechnical surveys are being finalized at the construction site, forming the foundation for further contract implementation. The new units, with a total gross capacity of 1,336 megawatts, will serve a stabilizing function in the power system, supporting the development of renewable energy sources. The Kozienice Power Plant, commissioned in the 1970s, is one of the largest thermal power plants in Poland. Historically based on hard coal, it is currently undergoing a deep transformation towards low-emission operations to meet the requirements of EU climate policy. The total value of the project amounts to over PLN 7 billion. According to the company's management declarations, the investment is to be largely carried out by Polish firms, with the so-called local content indicator estimated at around 75 percent. The construction is expected to create numerous jobs in the region and provide a strong pro-development boost to the local economy. Completion of the works and connection of the new units to the grid is planned for the first half of 2029. This investment is a central element of the Development Strategy until 2035, which envisages building a sustainable and flexible generation portfolio. cost of constructing the new units in Kozienice Experts indicate that switching to gas fuel will allow for a significant reduction in carbon dioxide emissions compared to traditional coal-fired units. „The new combined-cycle gas turbine units will significantly enhance Poland's energy security and the flexibility of its power system.” — Enea Management Project implementation is proceeding according to schedule, and modern technological solutions are expected to ensure high efficiency of the units for decades of operation.
