Residents of Valladolid are shocked by the brutal murder of a 16-year-old teenager, who died from stab wounds near the Colegio Amor de Dios school on Democracia street. Investigators are examining the thread of conflict between youth gangs of Latin roots and indicate that the murder may have been related to rivalry between Dominican Don't. A total of three people have been detained, including one adult woman.

Latin gang war

Police confirmed that the background of the murder is a conflict between the groups Dominican Don't Play and Trinitarios over control of influence in the city.

Perpetrator legally immune

The direct executor of the stabbings is 13 years old, which means that according to Spanish law he is non-imputable – he cannot be held criminally liable.

Accusations against police

The victim's family accuses the authorities of lack of response to the perpetrator's mother's earlier requests for her son to be placed under preventive supervision.

Shocking events took place last Friday near a school in Valladolid, where an 18-year-old young man was stabbed three times in the chest. The victim was resuscitated and transported in critical condition to the hospital, where he died. The National Police quickly established that the direct perpetrator was a 13-year-old minor, acting within criminal structures. Due to his age, the boy is not criminally liable, but by decision of the authorities, he has already been placed in a specialized youth detention center. The investigation revealed that the murder was not random but constituted an element of an open war between two rival groups of Latin character: Dominican Don't Play (DDP) and Trinitarios. Besides the perpetrator, two other individuals were apprehended: a second minor and an adult woman, who has been provisionally arrested on suspicion of complicity in the murder. The victim's parents, in an emotional statement, accused the authorities of negligence, claiming that the aggressor's mother had previously asked the police and social services for help in vain. The rise in activity of so-called Latin gangs in Spain constitutes a growing public security problem since the beginning of the 21st century, when migration from the Caribbean brought with it criminal structures modeled on patterns from the USA and the Dominican Republic. On Saturday, commemorative ceremonies for the victim were held in the city. Mayor Jesús Julio Carnero called the act a "savage murder" and took part in a minute of silence during Family Day. The case has also sparked a political storm – Vox party MEP Jorge Buxadé sharply criticized the current migration policy, accusing the main political forces of ignoring security problems. Meanwhile, investigators continue actions aimed at dismantling the structures of both gangs operating in the Castile and León region. „La madre había pedido ayuda a los Servicios Sociales y a la Policía pero le dijeron que hasta que pasara algo no podían hacer nada. Pues qué esperaban, que matara a alguien, pues lo mató.” — Father of the victim
