A major blow was also dealt to the structure of economic and corruption crime. The Central Anticorruption Bureau dismantled a network related to the illegal waste trade, in which in which a state official and a lawyer were said to play a significant role. The detainees are suspected of accepting financial benefits in exchange for providing a "protective umbrella" for illegal waste storage. Another corruption scandal has shaken Piotrków Trybunalski, where four individuals have been charged with financial irregularities in the local housing cooperative. A separate chapter of the operations involves combating the plague of scams targeting the elderly. Police in Warsaw dismantled a group that posed as waterworks employees to rob seniors in their own apartments. Numerous cases of extortion using the "emergency" method and fraudulent investments in fuel company shares were also reported. In response to these threats, a preventive program was launched in Lower Silesia to raise citizens' awareness of cybersecurity and manipulation techniques used by criminals. In recent years, Polish services have observed the professionalization of fraudster groups, who increasingly use advanced social engineering techniques and digital tools to steal identities and financial resources. The total scale of secured property and funds in the described cases amounts to millions of złoty. In Garwolin, police finalized an indictment against perpetrators of a money laundering scheme, estimated to be worth nearly 20 million złoty.
