New road traffic regulations coming into force on March 3 have dominated public debate, introducing significant restrictions for young drivers and users of personal transport devices. Simultaneously, a black series of road incidents across Poland, including tragic accidents involving motorcyclists and vehicle rollovers, serves as a reminder of the necessity for special caution and the use of safety measures such as seat belts.

Starting Tuesday, March 3, amended road traffic regulations will come into force in Poland, introducing a series of restrictions aimed at improving safety. The most important changes concern the youngest road users. Children will be prohibited from using electric scooters on public roads without appropriate qualifications, which is intended to reduce the number of incidents involving them. Furthermore, the new regulations introduce additional requirements for drivers who have held a license for less than two years, emphasizing a probationary period and additional safety training. In recent years, Poland has systematically increased penalties for traffic offenses, which is linked to the EU strategy "Vision Zero," which assumes a radical reduction in the number of fatalities in car accidents. The last 24 hours on Polish roads have been marked by tragic events. In Ładna in Małopolska, a fatal accident involving a minibus occurred, while in Wielkopolska, a motorcyclist lost his life. Shocking news came about the death of a 63-year-old woman who died during a vehicle rollover; the prosecutor's office and police preliminarily determined that she was not wearing a seat belt. Serious disruptions also occurred on the A4 motorway near Wrocław, where a pile-up of four vehicles led to multi-kilometer traffic jams and a transport paralysis in the Bielany Wrocławskie region. LPR helicopters were repeatedly involved in rescue operations, including in Lower Silesia and the Pomeranian Voivodeship. The situation on local roads was equally tense. In Siedliska and Zimna Woda, rollovers of BMW vehicles were recorded, adding to the sad statistics of the current week. On the DK46 route near Niemodlin, a passenger car collided with a truck, blocking an important artery towards Opole. In Poznań, a less common incident occurred at the Posnania shopping center, where a teenage girl was hospitalized after an attack by a peer. Uniformed services are appealing for speed to be adjusted to weather conditions, as local frost can treacherously reduce road surface grip, which was the cause of some of today's collisions.
