In several regions of Poland, concerning encounters with wolves have been recorded in recent days, as they increasingly approach human settlements and even enter urban areas. In Wołoskowola in the Lublin region, a wolf appeared in broad daylight very close to houses, while in the Kłodzko Land, another attack on a sheep flock occurred. Foresters are reassuring, but residents' anxiety is growing.

Wolf habituation

Wolves in Poland are increasingly losing their natural fear of humans, a phenomenon science calls habituation. They appear near buildings, which raises concern among local communities.

Attack on sheep flock

On the night of February 8-9, a wolf pack attacked a flock of sheep in Wilkanów near Bystrzyca Kłodzka. This is another incident in the region where breeders suffer losses despite using protections.

Incident in Wołoskowola

On February 21 around 8:00 AM in the town of Wołoskowola in the Lublin region, a wolf ran out from behind houses right by a frozen pond. It was recorded by resident Sebastian Piątek. The animal was active in broad daylight.

Warning in Rabka

Authorities issued a warning in Rabka after two wolves were seen in the area of Leśna and Gorczańska streets and near a nearby trail. The animals approached urbanized areas.

Debate on dogs and wolves

In public debate, an argument appears that a greater direct threat to people is posed by feral dogs than by wolves. Meanwhile, a discussion is ongoing in the Sejm about mandatory TPL for owners of aggressive dog breeds.

In the past week, a series of concerning encounters between people and wolves has been recorded in Poland, with the animals increasingly boldly approaching buildings and even entering urban areas.
