Despite immediate resuscitation and the dispatch of a helicopter from the Air Ambulance Service, the man could not be saved. Another tragedy occurred in the town of Ariany, where a 26-year-old female driver, while overtaking other vehicles, skidded and fatally struck a 44-year-old cyclist.
