Most Spanish workers already use artificial intelligence tools in their daily professional duties. According to the latest reports, this percentage is growing dynamically, exceeding 60% this year. Simultaneously, these technologies are becoming more common among large enterprises, where the adoption rate reaches nearly 60%. Studies indicate that the growth in applications is accompanied by a better understanding of this technology, as well as concerns about its impact on the labor market.

Simultaneous Hopes and Fears

Experts emphasize that AI currently constitutes the most influential technology in the professional sphere, while also being perceived as a source of both new opportunities and threats to jobs.

Artificial intelligence has ceased to be a futuristic promise in Spain, becoming an everyday tool in the hands of most workers. According to the IV Artificial Intelligence Report prepared by the recruitment platform InfoJobs, in 2026, 63% of Spanish professionals use AI tools in their work duties. This indicator shows a dynamic, artificial intelligence growth trend now in its third year – it was 52% in 2025 and 50% in 2024. The study distinguishes between so-called total usage and spontaneously declared usage. The latter, referring to the conscious use of AI technology, reached 51% this year, representing an increase of 17 percentage points compared to the previous year. AI Usage by Spanish Workers: 2024: 50, 2025: 52, 2026: 63 At the same time, the gap in awareness of using new technologies is shrinking. The difference between total AI usage and its recognition dropped to 12 percentage points in 2026, from 18 percentage points the previous year. According to the report's authors, this indicates better technology identification by workers and greater precision in determining which tools they actually use. A concerning phenomenon also recorded by the study is widespread fears related to the impact of automation on employment. Workers, who are increasingly accepting AI as a "work companion," simultaneously fear that this technology may contribute to the loss of their positions in the future. The widespread digitalization of workplaces and the development of process automation have been observed for at least two decades. However, the revolution brought by artificial intelligence, especially in the form of generative language models available since 2022, is assessed as more abrupt and potentially more transformative for the labor market than previous waves of automation. The trend of widespread adoption concerns not only individual workers but entire enterprises. According to the seventh report on the digitalization of Spanish companies, prepared by the trade union UGT, in 2025, 21.1% of firms employing more than 10 people used AI solutions. This is 9 percentage points more than the year before. Among the largest entities, employing over 250 workers, this rate is even more impressive at 58.2%, representing an increase of 13 percentage points.AI Usage in Spanish Companies (2025): All firms >10 persons: 21.1, Large firms >250 persons: 58.2 UGT indicates that "2025 was a year of strong start for corporate artificial intelligence." The report also notes that AI is currently the technology with the greatest impact on the sphere of work and business, constituting the peak of technological equipment for any company. The authors point out that Spain's position in the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development ranking, which measures AI utilization, is improving thanks to these trends.
